I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) back in 2015. This is a non-curable leukemia/lymphoma that hits about 20,000 adults over the age of 60 each year. I underwent one treatment cycle back in 2019 for about 19 months which gave me about 2 years of a partial remission. Currently, I am starting a second round of therapy, which should last about a year. It is through the CLL Society and their informative and updated website, free webinars, and group meetings that I continue to remain updated on the research and therapies that researchers are doing to find, if not a cure, at least therapies that help those with CLL live longer lives.
The CLL Society has been with me every step of the way in this journey and it is for this reason that I hope to raise $500 with your help during their first every, CELEBRATING LONG LIVES virtual 5k walk/run. Thank you for any donation you wish to make.
On July 23rd as you do your 5K walk or run, take a picture of yourself and post it on my Facebook page under the Celebrating Long Lives picture of the logo and me in my t-shirt and use the following hash tags: #CelebratingLongLives…..#CLLS5K22 I hope you will join me in helping the CLL Society and future CLL patients. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for supporting my participation in CLL Society's inagural 2022 Celebrating Long Live virtual 5K walk/run event! Celebrating Long Lives is about recognizing, supporting, and raising awareness of patients and caregivers who have had their lives changed by a chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) diagnosis.
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a rare type of blood cancer, yet the most common type of adult leukemia, that impacts 200,000 people around the United States. CLL Society is commited to providing every individual touched by a CLL/SLL diagnosis with the support and education they need to thrive because they believe SMART PATIENTS GET SMART CARE™! The organization also supports the development of improved treatments and finding a cure for CLL by funding CLL-specific research!
By supporting Celebrating Long Lives through making a donation to my fundraising page or signing up to participate in your own virtual 5K, you become the advocate these people need to find their best care.
No matter where you reside, you can be a part of CLL Society's inaugural Celebrating Long Lives event too! I invite you to join me on July 23rd to go 5 kilometers, create your own fundraising page, or engage in the conversation on social media using #CelebratingLongLives and #CLLS5K22. Learn more about the event and how to get involved at cllsociety.org/celebratinglonglives/.
Thank you for your support of chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma patients and caregiviers everywhere! All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.
